A Dog Around Town...

How're those veggies doing? We are certainly blessed to live in an area of the country that is ideal for growing bountiful vegetable gardens. Not only that, but East Texas is well suited for growing a variety of berries. With a spring and summer that has offered more rain than we had last year, your home garden's crop should be going gangbusters right now. And as someone that has been enjoying the fruits the ground has yielded, I can tell you that it has been a sweet year. Growing a garden is a great way for families to spend some time together, as well as a great way for children to learn about where their food comes from. As a side note, children tend to eat their veggies a lot better when they have invested some of their own time and energy in the process. It is exciting for them to see something grow and then enjoy the fruits of their labor. There are so many foods that grow well in East Texas. To name a few: tomatoes, squash, zucchini, cucumber, peppers, watermelon, blackberries, and blueberries. And if you can keep them out of the blazing hot sun, herbs like basil, oregano, sage and mint are fairly easy to grow too. And finally, if you just don't have the time or the green thumb, visit our local farmers market where other people have done all the work for you. Whether grown in your own backyard or just locally, the food is so much tastier and usually better for you. Give it a try! Thanks for playing along. Bark at ya next month.

Oh Baby! Look at those Adorable Faces
 Isn't this what life is all about? The cuddles, the giggles, the smirks... everything is brand new. However, as swiftly as your newborn learns a new facial expression, it changes. Do you realize that your baby will physically change more in their first year than in their next 20? I don't know if that is actually true, but it feels true. :) The reality is we are all constantly growing and changing, and the most dramatic changes occur in the first few years of our lives. We want to be there with you and for you, capturing those ever-morphing cutenesses that you love so dearly. Photographing newborns and not-yet-toddlers is a specialized profession that requires skill and experience as well as a lot of patience. And to that end, we give our babyfaces clients priority when scheduling. Not because we love our other clients any less, but because newborns require a little more time, attention, and flexibility. With each session, we are confident that there will be at least one shirt that needs changing by the time we are through (whether it is Mom's or one of our own.) And you never know if the baby will be awake or asleep, hot or cold, hungry or stuffed. We prepare for the worst and expect the best. But no matter the mood of the child, we almost always get at least one of those "take-your-breath-away" photos. And we usually get many more than just one. We have been truly blessed to photograph several newborns this year. A few of these precious bundles of joy are represented above. The Splanns and the Sparks' have been coming to the studio for almost seven years now. Between the two families, we have photographed their seven children multiple times. Why do they keep returning? Well, in their words, " because you always know that you will get something truly special." The Sifuentes family is also familiar with the studio from back when we photographed them in high school. Now that they have brought in their first child of their own, we hope they too remain clients for many years. We hope they too will continue to see the immeasurable value of what the studio can create. Our aim at the studio is to create beautiful, emotionally stirring works of art while doing so in an environment of friendliness and comfort. We want our clients to feel at ease when they walk through our doors. And we want them to again feel a great sense of peace when they hang their fine-art portraits on their walls, knowing that they will have this treasured moment for a lifetime. Senior Send-Off Family Portraits
Moms and Dads, if you just recently had a child graduate high school, it is time for a family portrait. Your son or daughter has already checked out mentally, and they are preparing to leave for college physically. They owe you this! So don't just give in when they complain that they don't want to take a family photo. Not to get overly dramatic here, but for many families, this is the defining moment when things change forever. Your family as you know it has changed. So take the opportunity now. As you plan for summer vacations, include time to come to the studio for a professional family portrait that you will love forever.
