A Dog Around Town...

Wow! My tail is definitely wagging over how nice it has been this past week.
Last month, I made just a few recommendations of ways to spend time together when the weather is not so great. Now, with the weather improving, many more opportunities are available: Golfing, fishing, biking, camping... I could go on and on. Just walking outside as you do your normal shopping or run your usual errands downtown is a good idea.
Just the other day, I saw a few families as well as groups of friends enjoying lunch downtown at Shelley's Bakery, and it got me thinking. Here's my first great idea! Take Shelley's AMAZING food and dine outdoors. She has the chairs and tables already set up. I see people do it all the time and wonder why that's not me. It seems like such a treat. And my second idea is even better! Take your delicious chicken pesto paninis and chocolate eclairs to go and have a picnic. Husbands - surprise your wife. This takes minimal effort. Wives - create a special outing for you and the kids.
The opportunities are only limited by the time you are willing to devote to them. So folks, enjoy the weather and enjoy the company of those you love.
And by the way, if you do choose Shelley's sometime in the near future, and I suggest you do, maybe leave me a crumb or two. Thanks for playing along. Bark at you next month. |
"Geocaching"

 Over the past few months, my family has been doing a little "geocaching" in and around Nacogdoches. If you have never heard of it, it's basically hi-tech treasure hunting. What I mean by hi-tech is that you either need a GPS or GPS enabled mobile devise.
Hidden out of sight and many times close to places you might usually visit is a "cache" that can be very small or large enough to hold small toys and trinkets. Sometimes buried slightly or secretly hidden in the crack of a tree, these "caches" have been placed by a fellow "geocacher." I know it all sounds rather strange, but who doesn't like to find buried treasure?
This past weekend, we were at our Nana and Papaw's house (close to the Post Office) and decided to do a little caching. Within about one mile from their house, there were almost a dozen caches hidden! We ended up finding five with one miss and ran out of time for the rest.

Every year around Easter, our studio hosts real live bunnies to pose for beautiful portraits with children. It's always a delight to see the excitement and funny faces that inevitably come whenever combining children with live animals... And I'm not necessarily talking about the children... often times it's their parents that get excited and strike some priceless poses. Either way, we have fun, the children have fun, and the parents leave with fun memories and amazing portraits! If you've never taken part in this portrait event, you should check it out.
