A Dog Around Town...

Date night. Game night. Family night. We all do our best to make time within our way-too-busy schedules for the things that matter most. And I think most parents are looking for an activity that is entertaining for the whole family.
Might I recommend bowling? Bowling is one of those activities that doesn't cost a whole lot, and the entire family can participate. And if you're not a big bowler, then you can just relax, eat your nachos, drink your coke, and have a great time watching the rest of your family bowl. It's all about being together. And this is something that is fun, safe, and it doesn't matter if it's rainy or cold outside. So if you would like to give it a shot, I suggest checking out Texas Pro Bowl on North Street. It's a great place. I know you will have a good time.
And while we are on the subject. The Nacogdoches Jaycees usually put on their "Bowl for Kids" benefit this time of year. The proceeds go to help organizations around town that support and benefit the youth of East Texas. Maybe you've already been contacted by a Jaycee to participate. Well, I personally recommend it. Tons of fun to be had while giving to worthy, local charities.

Night at the Planetarium

 As a dad, I'm always trying to find fun family friendly activities. Instead of going to see a movie, staying at home or going to Wal-mart, I have another suggestion..visit the SFA Planetarium.
This last Friday, we (the Patterson crew) had a great experience that was family friendly and educational. The Planetarium is located on the SFA campus in the Math building with shows every Friday (usually) @ 7 p.m. and priced just right at $2 per person. Each show typically lasts under an hour with different shows rotating every 6-8 weeks. We try to go a few times a year as an alternative to movies and Wal-mart!
This last show was great but the host was even better as he guided us through the night sky and sharing all sorts of trivia and interesting facts.

The Garners
Good people. Good friends. Good times.
We love the Garners for so many reasons, not the least of which is that they are animal lovers, as you might have guessed from their portrait.  You may recognize Stephen as the practicing veterinarian at Southside Animal Clinic. You might recognize Caroline from the pick-up line at the band hall or cheerleading practice. All together they are a wonderful family that gives freely and joyfully of themselves to family, friends and community. In addition to the family's dog, they had originally planned for their cockatiel as well as their daughter's cat to be in the portrait. So, when their cat escaped and refused to be found after they spent hours scouting the neighborhood and calling "Here, kitty kitty," you might expect them to call it quits on the portrait (and the cat). But, they were brave and put their best smiles on. But we don't want you to worry... the cat was found just a few hours later. So whether it's pets, extra-curricular activities, or whatever you enjoy as a family, celebrate it with a portrait. It's something you'll treasure for a lifetime.

Mom and Me - Just 4 Fun Kids Special
Thursday and Friday February 10th & 11th
Take a moment to remember the special bond between Mother and Child. The goal of this session is to capture the beautiful relationship the two share. Whether your child is 1 year old or 12 years old, here is your opportunity to have that special time in your life immortalized in professional portraiture.
