A Dog Around Town...

Hey friends! I take pride in the fact that my sense of smell is above average. This makes it much easier for me to sniff out important happenings around town. In addition to my exceptional sense of smell is my great taste. And what's tastier than sandwiches!
We definitely have some pretty great sandwich shops around town... from the national chains to the mom and pops. We have new ones moving in, but let's not forget the ones we have here in Nac that are tried and true.
I'm talking about Stacy's Deli. Now, this is not something they've asked me to endorse. In fact, I'm not positive that they want a dog as their spokesperson. But I truly feel they have great food and they treat you right. I'm not a complicated dog, but the two things that count in my book, they have. So if you haven't tried their deli, you need to. And if you haven't been in a while, I'm sure they would appreciate a visit. Thanks Stacy for all that you do.
And thank you Stacy for supporting our 'Paws for Pets' special we did last month. He not only has great taste in food, he has great taste in portraits. My readers may remember my last article was about this very event that the studio does each year to benefit the Human Society of Nacogdoches. And as always, I know all those who participated were thrilled with the results. Thanks to all!

Pro Tips

I'm sure you have all heard that big things come in small packages. That's what happened to me on my 12th birthday when I received my FIRST CAMERA. For the past 32 years I have been following a passion that started with a small gift.
My Pro Tip is to encourage you not to give up! I've experienced many failures especially early on. Our family cat at the time was my main subject and if he could have spoken, I'm sure I would have gotten an ear full of "please leave me alone." Even now I am on a continuous journey to improve.
Nathan, my 10 year-old has been taking piano lessons for the past few years. This year he has experienced some amazing growth as a pianist. He has a great teacher but I think more importantly he enjoys it and he spends time practicing!
So, practice, practice and then when you think you've got it, do it some more.
Don't give up!

The Okray Family
Milestones and Defining Moments
You might hear us say from time to time that we love our Lufkin Seniors. The truth of the matter is that we love all of our clients that value the unique advantages of our studio. We work diligently to exceed the expectations of those who patron our services. And the Okray family from Lufkin is no exception. Wendy has now brought her third and final child to us to have his senior portraits taken. We were privileged to begin with Megan who graduated in 2008. Next we saw Evelyn in 2009. And now we completed the set with Aaron, who will graduate this coming May. And it has truly been our privilege and honor to have these three fine seniors visit our studio. Each of the three have had their individuality, but they have all shown themselves to be people of character. So we were excited to hear that Aaron will be joining the Marines during this next stage in his life. We thank him in advance for his service to our country, and we wish him safety and fulfillment throughout this venture.  The families that come to our studio are from all across East Texas and beyond. They come from all backgrounds and will follow after a variety of pursuits. We want each family to know just how much we love being even a small part in their lives. Each person's life is made up of a collection of momentary experiences. In our profession, we are able to capture these moments so that families and friends can have something special to remember these changing times. We thank the entire Okray family for their continued trust in our abilities to capture this milestone in each of the children's lives.

Tennessee Fall Forum
It's always a lot of fun for us to share our passion and love for photography with other photographers. We were recently invited to speak and present to a group of leading photographers from all across the country at a forum held in Lawrenceburg Tennessee.
Daryl Sparks and I had a great time sharing about our studio and a philosophy we live by called "So Worth It!" Our clients see this philosophy in action by all the small but important ways we provide outstanding service, the creative and unique portrait products we offer, the amazing Victorian studio & garden, and much more!
We absolutely love what we do here at the studio, but to do it right, it takes a lot of hard work.
